Josh proposed to Alara last August, they had a quick engagement and married in Turkey in an intimate ceremony with family a month later. In a year of cancellations, changed plans and disappointments, I think this was a really good shout! They’re yet to have a UK celebration of their wedding but they joined me for a post-wedding shoot at the stunning Cwm Idwal in the Snowdonia National Park.

In a month of the UK’s highest rainfall for this time of year, we were fortunate to find a break in the weather one Saturday afternoon, although the mountains here do lend themselves to moody skies and overcast backdrops.

It was inspiring to be in this amazing scenery. I’ve known Josh for a number of years now so it was really lovely to catch up with him and get to know his new wife, Alara, shooting them was such a pleasure. This location felt fitting as they’re an outdoorsy couple who enjoy adventures on rivers and in the mountains with their sweet rescue dog, Ella.

I look forward to visiting Llyn Idwal again and searching out more locations for epic Snowdonia wedding photography. I don’t need much of an excuse to explore off the beaten track to find secret spots for my couples, I love to get out on foot and run the trails here.
